I think the lock on my safe or
lockbox is broken or needs service.
What should I do? |
|
First of all, combination (dial) safe locks should be serviced annually to
prevent costly lockout failures! If the safe door is removable, you can
bring it in to the shop for service. If it is not portable, you will need a
service call. It helps to know the brand name from the safe and the lock
(these are often different). If the safe is locked shut and will not open
with the combination, I bet you wish you called us last week!
Seriously, you will need a service call. There is a chance that your safe
will require a costly penetration, but in most cases we can sweet-talk
the safe into opening on the combination just one more time so that we can
service the lock. DO NOT spray WD-40 or graphite (or anything else!) into
your safe lock! This will only make the problem worse! If your safe lock is
not working consistently, have it serviced before it escalates into a
penetration project! You could be talking about $100 instead of $3000 or
even more! If your safe or lockbox is key operated or has a keypad, you will
need to contact us or a
locksmith in
your area with a good description of the product and problem. Once we
identify the product, we can advise you. |
