Busse’s Lock Service, L.L.C. provides a variety of automotive lock services to individuals, mechanics, body shops, and even new car dealers!  We can:

NEW ELECTRONIC CAR KEYS (Transponders)

Starting in the mid-1990's most car manufacturers began installing transponders in their car keys.  The transponder is part of an electronic anti-theft system and is totally separate from your car alarm and the remote-entry fob, and can even be found on cars that have neither of these features!  The transponder is an small electronic chip embedded in the handle of the key.  When you turn the key in the ignition, the on-board computer sends out a radio signal.  Unless the computer receives the proper response signal from the chip, the car won’t run!  That’s right--the key turned but the car won’t run!  All new duplicate keys for transponder-equipped vehicles must have the correct chip and be programmed for the vehicle before they will operate the ignition!  In a few cases, only the authorized dealership can accomplish this.  But in most cases, Busse’s can still copy the key, though we may need to have the car in order to program the key.  It is all very complicated, but we are here to sort it all out for you!  If you are curious about the keys for your car, just call us with the year, make, and model of your car for more information; or just stop by our shop.  If we can’t help you, we can direct you to someone who can.  But be prepared for sticker shock.  Transponder keys start at $30 and can be over $100, depending on which kind you need!  If you want duplicates of your car key but are outside our area, try StreetKeys.
